Pulse Manual Index

Overview

Groups in pulse™ are used to grant additional privileges to users. By default, all users added to a pulse™ server are granted the right to:

  • view all projects
  • view server status
  • view agent information

Normal users are only able to access the "projects" and "agents" tabs in the "administration" section of the user interface. To grant users additional privileges, or indeed to restrict privileges further, you must configure user groups.

Managing Groups

Groups are managed via the "groups" tab in the "administration" section of the user interface. Each group has a set of members: the users that belong to the group, and directly-granted server permissions: server-wide privileges granted to the group.

Note that project- and agent-specific permissions are also granted to groups via project permissions and agent permissions respectively.

Server Permissions

administer

This is a super permission. Users granted this permission have absolute control over the pulse™ server.

create project

This permission controls which users are able to create new projects and project templates, either by running the project wizard or cloning an existing project.

delete project

This permission controls which users are able to remove existing projects and project templates.

personal build

This permission controls which users are able to request personal builds. Note that restricting access to personal builds can be important both to control agent utilisation and for security. Giving a user permission to request a personal build essentially gives them access to execute arbitrary code on agents, so this permission should not be granted lightly.

Note that you can also configure at the agent level which agents will accept personal builds.
